“Holy” Water Can’t Heal This
In our cultures and histories, the search for meaning is addictive. We keep trying to absolve the past and prepare for the unknown future.
But fixing the “what we do” (religion) will never fix the “who we are, and who we aren’t” issue. We know this.
“But God.” He sent us THE Solution. He sent into the world, at just the perfect time, true freedom from our addictions and crutches:
- Distractions
- Wealth
- Entertainment
- Vices
- Romance
- Recognition
- Clothing
- Physical appearance
- Relationships
- Adrenaline
- Knowledge
- Busyness
- Nature
- Control
- Technology
- New stuff
- Collections
- Obsessions
- Food
- Humor
- Cleverness
- Academic ivory towers
- Activist causes
- And even fear
These above really are all the same thing, at the root.
Are we really cra-cra enough to still believe these can be healed by religion and its:
- Holy-men
- Holy-days
- Holy-water
- Hyper-arousal
- Holy-wonder
- Hallucination
- Hymns
- Hierophany
- Hypnosis
- Hallowed mystery
When we finally begin to fully trust the One and Only Jesus—the One every world religion must deal with—and drop the charade of pride and mammal instincts… then we begin to see who we’re supposed to be, designed to be. This transformation, with ever-increasing glory, is for whosoever will. When we turn over our lives to him, come what may, forever, in total trust… then a whole lot of things will start to change. Like a garden, our lives start to look different when we till up the cracked, scorched earth, plant only His Seeds, water them, and pull the weeds.
